FULL DAY BANGKOK TEMPLES & CANALS TOUR WITH WAT KHUN CHAN (WAT PAKNAM) INCLUDE LUNCH
Essential Information
Tour Overview
In the morning, meet your personal guide for a full-day exploration of Bangkok’s temples and canals. Begin your tour with a scenic ride on a long-tail boat from a nearby pier, cruising along the Chao Phraya River. Enjoy stunning views of the Bangkok skyline before venturing into the narrow canals (klongs) that wind through residential neighborhoods. As you glide along, you will witness authentic local life—pass by wooden stilt houses, glimpse clotheslines hanging between homes, and wave to friendly locals relaxing on their porches while traditional music plays in the background. Keep your eyes peeled for waterbirds like herons, pelicans, and egrets as they perch along the banks.
Your first stop will be at Wat Khun Chan, a beautiful riverside temple. Here, you will see vibrant and colorful statues of Buddha, deities, and animals that are hard to miss. Next, visit Wat Paknam, a historic royal temple dating back to the 17th century. Take a tour of the temple’s museum, which features artifacts that offer a glimpse into the rich history of Bangkok and Thailand. Wat Paknam is also famous for its towering 226-foot golden Buddha, the largest seated Buddha statue in the city.
After exploring the temples, return to the Chao Phraya River and head back to the pier, where you will enjoy a delicious lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, your tour will continue with visits to two of Bangkok’s most iconic landmarks: The Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew). The Grand Palace has been the royal residence since the Siam Kingdom in 1782 and remains an important site for official ceremonies. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha is one of the most revered Buddhist temples in Thailand, home to the 26-inch jade statue of a meditating Buddha, a true national treasure. After immersing yourself in the grandeur of these cultural gems, you will be driven back to your hotel at the end of the day.
