Itinerary

  1. Day 01: Bangkok to Kanchanaburi – Hellfire Pass Museum & Krasae Cave

Depart Bangkok and journey three hours west to the charming town of Kanchanaburi. After settling into your hotel, begin your exploration at the Hellfire Pass Museum. This moving site honors the prisoners of war and laborers who built the infamous Thailand-Burma Railway, also known as the "Death Railway." Immerse yourself in the museum's powerful exhibits, featuring artifacts, photographs, and personal stories. Walk along the railway and through the Hellfire Pass itself to reflect on the incredible resilience and sacrifices of those who endured its creation.

Next, visit Krasae Cave, once a shelter for prisoners during the railway’s construction. Inside the small quarters, pause at the shrine commemorating their memory. Conclude your day with a walk across the iconic Bridge over the River Khwae, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Then, enjoy a boat ride along the Khwae River, where you can learn more about the region's history and the challenges faced by its people. End your day at the Don Rak War Cemetery, the final resting place for thousands of prisoners of war. The rows of headstones offer a poignant reminder of the profound loss suffered here.
    Overnight in Kanchanabu
  2. Day 02: Kanchanaburi – Explore Erawan National Park

Start your day with an early visit to Erawan National Park, home to Thailand's most stunning waterfall. The Erawan Waterfall features seven tiers, each with unique shapes and character, cascading from a height of 2,000 meters into the Khwae Yai River. The falls take their name from the legendary three-headed white elephant of Hindu mythology.

Spend your time exploring the lush surroundings, swimming in the clear natural pools, or hiking up to higher levels for breathtaking views. This is a perfect spot to relax and immerse yourself in nature’s beauty.
    Overnight in Kanchanaburi.
  3. Day 03: Kanchanaburi to Ayutthaya – Explore Ayutthaya – Travel to Chiang Mai or Bangkok

After breakfast, depart for Ayutthaya, a journey of just over an hour. Upon arrival, hop aboard a Kermit tuk-tuk, a charming vehicle found only in Ayutthaya and Trang. Begin your tour of the ancient capital by visiting its iconic temples and ruins. Discover Wat Yai Chaimongkol, Wat Mahathat (famous for the Buddha face nestled in tree roots), and Wat Phra Si Sanphet, renowned for its striking architecture. Along the way, stroll through a bustling local market for a taste of Ayutthaya’s culture.

Next, visit the Bang Pa-In Summer Palace, a beautiful retreat built during the Ayutthaya era. This royal complex showcases a blend of European, Khmer, Thai, and Chinese architectural styles, and remains a favorite summer residence for Thai royalty.

From Ayutthaya, choose your onward journey:
    * Board a night train from Bang Pa-In Train Station to Chiang Mai.
    * Transfer to Don Mueang Airport in Bangkok for a flight to Chiang Mai.
    * Drive back to Bangkok for further exploration.
